Darker nights and crime prevention for the Winter months. This week we have been handing out timer plugs to residents outside Morrisons Castle Bromwich and Burtons way in Smithswood and offering crime prevention advice and how to keep safe during the Halloween and Fireworks festivities. These timers are a really good idea, it means you can have a lamp come on at a pre-set time and your house won’t be in darkness all evening while you are out. They also mean you don’t need to leave a light on all day & night if you are away, saving pennies on the electricity bill. I will have some of these plugs with me at my next Cuppa with a Copper, dates below, along with other crime prevention goodies and advice. Check out https://www.west-midlands.police.uk/crime-prevention It’s good to be prepared and think of these things in advance, like checking that outside lights are in good working order. We have a great little booklet with a checklist of areas around your home that could make your property an easy target. Sometimes it is an easy fix such as bin placement, could they be used to climb onto or over fences or flat roofs?
Dates for diary
